The main R&D product offer from Hydratech Industries is hydraulic systems for wind turbines, and also any systems handling fluids in the turbines.
In Hydratech Industries we know from end to end what it takes to design and develop a complete pitch system. All the way from control to selection of each component, doing simulation on the system and validation of each component, and to finally making sure everything is working.

Digital Solutions for the Future

In Hydratech Industries we are working on digitalization of our product portfolio because we believe that digital solutions will support the uptime and availability of our customers' turbines. Our digital solutions enable our customers to - in an intelligent way - communicate with the different components in our systems.

Newly developed filtration system dramatically reduces downtime in wind turbines: no need for oil changes in the future.

A new and revolutionary oil filtration and recovery system is good news for wind farm owners. The unique system, developed in a partnership between Hydratech Industries and Delta-Xero, is equipped with nanofiltration, removing water, varnish and harmful particulates down to 0.1 Micron, protecting the pitch hydraulic oil and gear oil optimally. The technology is already well proven and in use in a wide range of heavy duty industries. It’s a game changer!

Working with customers in R&D

At Hydratech Industries we have a global R&D department because our customers are based globally.
We need to be able to serve our customers no matter where in the world their development departments are located.

Our Global Head of R&D Jimmi Wenderby points out the three main locations of the R&D department of Hydratech Industries.

The Dual Production strategy

The Dual Production Strategy was developed because the COVID-19 pandemic clearly demonstrated the weaknesses of supply chains as they were before the outbreak. Even during a pandemic, it is important for Hydratech Industries to be able to serve our customers all around the world, and at the same time make sure that the production is running no matter what is happening.

Quality and Category Management

In Hydratech Industries it is a constant drive and a constant monitoring to evaluate and secure the quality of our suppliers.

Our Global Procurement Director Carsten Fischer explains about our Supplier Program and how the quality check is always handled by a dedicated Supplier Quality Engineer.

Innovation and University collaboration

In order to design improvements for increasing the reliability of hydraulic pitch systems for wind turbines, Hydratech Industries is involved in an innovative phd project at the University of Aalborg, which includes both simulations and mathematical modelling.

Our aftermarket engineering department challenges the past and improves the future.
We basically look into the reliability of products and make an upgraded version of it, to make sure that our customers always have the best possible performance on their wind turbines.

That is why we have a very strong R&D department that develops innovative solutions making our components more simple, more integrated and thereby more durable and with a bigger robustness.

HI Aftermarket - Meeting our customers' needs

In the aftermarket business we deliver to breakdown services and services in general but also upgrade solutions and tools for the business.
Bearing in mind, that the mindset between aftermarket business and OEM business is quite different, Hydratech Industries made the decision to move all our service and aftermarket activities into one division.

If we look ten years back, we have seen an increase of around 400% in stored capacity of wind energy. Wind turbines are getting bigger and bigger, and the power produced here is becoming more and more cost efficient and competitive with other sources of electricity.

Dealing with the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has clearly demonstrated the weaknesses of supply chains as they were before the pandemic.
Our customers expect us to produce and deliver close to their point of consumption, and despite the constraints connected to COVID-19, we have been able to keep a full and operational supply chain towards our factories and securing good on-time-delivery to our clients.

The journey of Hydratech Industries

Hydratech Industries has been through a transition in the past many years, going from a provider of both oil and gas and wind turbines, to primarily focusing on wind turbines. This market is growing extremely fast and we play an important role for our customers around the world in supporting this growth.
Hydratech has been through a complete turnaround for the last five to ten years, and both financially and oprationally working on changing the focus of our business, to be ready for this growth.

In Hydratech Industries we define Key Suppliers as ”TOP25 most significant suppliers to our Wind Business fully in line with our core business and strategy, supporting all commercial necessary disciplines to both consolidate and grow as TIER1 supplier towards the global turbine manufacturers”. 

Effective CM integration is our preferred downstream tool to contract & cooperate with partners which services our global entities.

In Hydratech we focus on wind because we strongly believe that wind is one of the future growing sources of renewable energy, and in very high demand across the globe.

It is known that everybody is working on bigger and more complex turbines, and by making our products and solutions digital, we can support the uptime and availability of the wind turbines. On our future journey within the wind industry, we are sure that we will experience even closer cooperation with the customers.

Piston Accumulators Production in India

Hydratech Industries India has recently commissioned a brand new piston accumulator production line at its Bangalore facility to manufacture piston accumulators for the Indian market and also for the overseas market. This is based on lean production and incorporates the best practices learnt from the group companies in China and Denmark. The line is fully operational and is already producing piston accumulators for customers in India and overseas.
